THE HISTORY OF THE DOUTTA GALLA

Affectionately known as “The Doot,” the Doutta Galla Hotel has been a Flemington staple since 1889. Founded by Thomas Miller, it quickly became a central hub for community connection and good times.

Over the years, the venue underwent several name changes – from the Flemington Inn and Mains Bridge Hotel, to the Flemington Hotel, before finally becoming the Doutta Galla Hotel, named after the local parish.

In the late 20th century, it was rebranded as the Geebung Polo Club, a lively venue owned by Tooheys, with a sister pub in Hawthorn. In the early 2000s, it returned to its roots when Michael Hickey revived the Doutta Galla Hotel name.
